About pcbb – Pflege-Coach Berlin Brandenburg

pcbb is a guide for everyone who provides care, receives care or organises care in Berlin or Brandenburg. We bring together in one place what is otherwise scattered across many public offices, insurance funds and websites: information you can understand, checked addresses and dates near you. pcbb is not a substitute for personal advice – we take you to where someone will listen to you.

Details

Care almost always begins suddenly: after a fall, after a stay in hospital, after a diagnosis. From one day to the next, relatives are expected to submit an application, find a care service, adapt a flat and keep working at the same time. Anyone looking for information for the first time in this situation ends up in what the Landespflegeplan Berlin 2025 (the Berlin state care plan) calls a “jungle of responsibilities and services”: the range of services in Berlin is unmatched anywhere in Germany – but those affected do not know about it, and nobody finds their way through it alone.

Why pcbb exists

The figures from the Landespflegeplan Berlin 2025 describe the need clearly:

• 211,999 people in need of care lived in Berlin in 2023 – in 2017 the figure was still 135,680.
• 87 per cent of them are looked after at home, 54 per cent by relatives alone.
• Around 282,000 people in Berlin care for relatives; a good three quarters of those of working age among them also have a job.
• Berlin’s 36 Pflegestützpunkte (care support points) provided around 115,000 advice sessions in 2023 – and still have a documented problem of not being widely known.
• The Entlastungsbetrag (monthly relief amount) of 131 euros a month is used by only about 64 per cent of those entitled to it. Money that expires every month because nobody knows about it.
• Only 37 per cent of the very old (80+) use the internet – in the population as a whole the figure is 88 per cent.

The last point leads to a basic rule for this portal: pcbb is also a tool for relatives and for advisers. Telephone numbers are always shown alongside, every page can be printed out, and nobody has to create an account in order to read information.

Berlin and Brandenburg together

The Landespflegeplan relates purely to Berlin. Many care situations do not: the daughter lives in Potsdam and provides care in Steglitz, the father moves to Oranienburg because there is no free care home place in Reinickendorf, and on the edge of the city – Buckow, Buch, Köpenick, Heiligensee – the gap in provision is particularly large. pcbb thinks of both states together. We record addresses and dates for Berlin and for the districts of Brandenburg.

What pcbb consists of

• Knowledge – understandable articles on the topics people bring to advice sessions: Pflegegrad (care grade), benefits, forms of housing, combining care and work, planning ahead, dementia, being overwhelmed. Every article begins with a short answer in plain language and ends with a concrete next step.
• Addresses – Pflegestützpunkte (care support points), advice centres, care services, day care, shared care flats, self-help groups and everyday support, filterable by borough and district, by language, by specialisation and by accessibility.
• Events – care courses under § 45 SGB XI, groups for relatives, dementia cafés, information evenings and Letzte-Hilfe-Kurse (“last aid” courses on end-of-life care).
• Get involved – the section in which providers, associations and neighbours contribute something themselves. It is growing step by step.

What we stand by

1. Guiding, not replacing. A website cannot provide advice that knows your family, your home and your money. Every page therefore ends with a route to a real person.
2. Understandable before complete. A short answer in three sentences, then the details. We explain technical terms in the care glossary.
3. Accessible and multilingual. We work to BITV 2.0 / WCAG 2.2 AA; further languages will follow. The current status is set out in the accessibility statement.
4. Sparing with data. Maps via OpenStreetMap instead of Google, no US trackers, no advertising networks. See the privacy policy.
5. Transparent about sources. We write our own texts, name the legal basis and give every sum of money a date, because care law can change every year.
6. Independent. An entry in the address directory is free of charge and is not a recommendation. We do not sell ranking positions.

What pcbb is not

• not an emergency number – in case of acute danger dial 112,
• not legal or social welfare advice in individual cases,
• not a substitute for the care advice under § 7a SGB XI to which you have a legal entitlement,
• not a review portal – we present services, we do not grade them.

Who is behind it

Organisation and editorial team behind pcbb: [TRÄGER EINSETZEN]. You will find the full details in the legal notice. The portal is editorially supervised; providers maintain their own entries and the editorial team approves them (see the Anbieter-Richtlinien – provider guidelines (in German)). The content is based on the advice topics of the Pflegestützpunkte, on Social Code Book XI (SGB XI) and on the Landespflegeplan Berlin 2025.

What to do

1. Start where your situation is. Has something just happened? Then begin with “A sudden need for care – the first 7 steps”. If you have been providing care for some time, benefits is the right place to start.
2. Look for your local point of contact. Under Addresses you will find the Pflegestützpunkt for your borough or district. The advice there is free, independent and also there for relatives.
3. Note down a date. Care courses under § 45 SGB XI are free for relatives providing care – dates are listed under Events.
