Get involved: your contribution to care in Berlin and Brandenburg

pcbb depends on many people contributing something: providers add their service, organisers submit their dates, and users report what is missing or wrong. Everything is free of charge; an entry is not advertising and not a recommendation. This page explains how you can get involved – today and in the next stages of development.

The Landespflegeplan Berlin 2025 (the state care plan for Berlin) records what members of the public called for in the „Dialog Pflege 2030“ consultation process, in around 5,500 contributions: information, advice and support should be brought together in one place – digitally and in person. No editorial team can do that on its own. Providers know their own services, organisers know the dates, and family carers know where the gaps are.

Four ways to get involved today

1. Add your service to the address directory

The Directory is for every service that helps people in need of care and their relatives in Berlin or Brandenburg: home care services, day, night and short-term care, residential care homes, Pflege-WGs (shared flats with care), assisted living, advice centres and Pflegestützpunkte (care support points), recognised everyday support services under § 45a SGB XI, hospice and palliative services, self-help groups, everyday help (lunch clubs, personal emergency call systems, transport services, shopping help) as well as home adaptation and advice on aids. Entries are free of charge. The provider guidelines (in German) are binding.

2. Report an event

We include the following in the Events calendar: care courses under § 45 SGB XI, carers' groups, dementia cafés, information events, Letzte-Hilfe-Kurse (last aid courses on caring for the dying), training for Nachbarschaftshilfe (neighbourhood help) as well as trade fairs and awareness days. What matters is the date, the time, the exact location with the Bezirk (district) or Landkreis (county), the cost, how to register and whether the venue is accessible. Recurring dates can be listed as a series.

3. Report a gap in provision or an error

Have you spent weeks looking for a Kurzzeitpflege (short-term residential care) place without finding one? Berlin has only 17 short-term care facilities with 274 places, and just one single night care service with 8 places across the whole city (Landespflegeplan Berlin 2025). Experiences like this are valuable: we collect them anonymously in order to make the gaps visible and to discuss them with the districts, the Pflegestützpunkte and the authorities. The same applies to wrong telephone numbers, closed facilities or out-of-date amounts in our articles.

4. Review our knowledge articles

If you work in care – in a Pflegestützpunkt, in advice work, in a care service or in self-help – we would be glad if you reviewed our articles from a professional point of view. We are grateful for feedback on clarity, legal accuracy and practical relevance, and we note the review status on the article.

Looking ahead: what comes next

Three further areas for participation have been prepared and will be switched on step by step:

• Nachbarschaftshilfe. A directory of recognised neighbourhood helpers under § 5a PuVO. After a free six-hour training course and registration with the Pflegekasse (long-term care insurance fund), neighbours can provide everyday help and bill it against the Entlastungsbetrag (monthly relief amount) of 131 euros a month (as at July 2026). Between 2021 and 2023, only 2,390 people in Berlin completed the training – with around 220 recognised everyday support services used by 30,217 people, there is considerable room to grow. Only a first name and the neighbourhood appear in the directory; contact is made through a form.
• Aids exchange. Rollator, care bed, shower stool, ramp – give away, lend or swap privately, not commercially. Adverts expire automatically after 90 days, and every advert is checked before publication.
• Room exchange for Pflege-WGs and assisted living. With 773 shared flats and around 6,081 places, Berlin has the highest density of shared care flats in Germany – with an occupancy rate of 91.7 per cent. The value lies in showing what is available right now: anyone with a free room reports it, and anyone looking sees it immediately. For verified provider accounts only; entries expire after 30 days.
• Questions & answers. A moderated area in which questions can be asked anonymously and are answered by the editorial team and trained volunteers. Not an open forum: every contribution is checked before publication, and for distressing topics we display helpline numbers.

What to do?

1. Check whether your entry already exists. Search for your name under Directory. If the entry exists but is out of date, report the correction – you can take over existing entries and maintain them yourself in future.
2. Get your details ready. Name, provider organisation, address with Bezirk or Landkreis, telephone, e-mail, website, a factual description in your own words, languages spoken, specialisations, accessibility, approval by the insurance funds and whether you are currently taking on new clients.
3. Get in touch with us. An e-mail to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. is enough; you will receive an account with which you can create your entry yourself and update it later.
4. Wait for approval. The editorial team checks every entry before publication – usually within a few working days.
5. Keep your data up to date. Once a year we send you an e-mail reminder to check it. If your telephone number, provider organisation or capacity changes, please update the entry straight away.
6. Report your dates. Please submit events at least two weeks in advance so that they appear in the calendar in good time.

• Are you a family carer looking for support yourself? The Pflegestützpunkt in your Bezirk gives free and independent advice: find an address.
• Would you like to become a neighbourhood helper? The training courses are free of charge; you will find dates under Events, and the Pflegestützpunkte and the Kompetenzzentrum Pflegeunterstützung can give you information.
• Would you like to volunteer in care? The Kontaktstellen PflegeEngagement in the Berlin districts arrange placements – they are listed under Directory too.
